Tiny Trolls of Norway – A Review

We have all been in need of good waterproofs this year so when the opportunity arose for Emma to review a winter overall for Tiny Trolls of Norway we were absolutely delighted! The UK section of their online shop has only been launched recently and the company was very kind to invite a number of bloggers’ children to review the winter overall range. As the blurb on the website says, “Tiny Trolls winter coveralls are extremely suitable for outdoor play in autumn and winter. Our garments are padded to ensure your child’s warmth and comfort. Enjoy their functionality with a high water column, good breathability and excellent durability.” The suits come in two sizes 1-3 years and 4-8 years, two separate designs, the Trollungen and the Lillebjorn and four colours pink, blue, purple and dark blue/black. Trollungen, the one Emma was gifted, is lightly padded and allows for good freedom of movement while playing. The hood and neck are lined with a fun design, soft fleece material. This suit has high durability silicon foot straps …

Great Children’s Books and Family Games for Christmas

As I had promised, when it comes to Christmas gift recommendations this year, there will be no toy in sight on this blog! But there are plenty of other wonderful children’s Christmas presents worth mentioning here, books coming first to mind for me, a declared bookworm and avid reader! We have been reviewing a number of books and games this month and here are some titles that caught our attention or gave us the giggles: Norman, the Slug Who Saved Christmas, by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet We hadn’t heard of Sue Hendra before receiving her latest book, even if she is the illustrator of other hilarious titles like Barry, The Fish With Fingers, Supertato and N0-Bot, The Robot With No Bottom! Norman, the Slug Who Saved Christmas is this year feel-good children’s Christmas book which will amuse young children and parents alike and bring the festive cheer into our homes. Even if the book is designed for younger children, Emma found it truly fun to read and it sits on her nightstand now, along …

Lottie Dolls: Let Girls Dream Beyond The Princess Dresses

I have a girl whose mind is sharp as a needle. A girl who loves to ask questions and learn about the world. A girl who is not satisfied with the appellative princess and who dreams of being a scientist or an explorer when she grows up. A girl for whom Lottie dolls are absolutely perfect as role models and appropriate toys. What sort of dolls are the Lottie range and what sets them apart form the crowd? According to the Daily Mail, they are: “…A range of dolls created to defy gender stereotypes and encourage girls to be adventurous, inquisitive and sporty. Lottie is billed as a ‘fashion doll with a difference’ because – unlike a Barbie doll which has an impossibly slim figure – Lottie has been designed to look and dress like a child.” Our love for the Lottie doll range started exactly one year ago, when Emma got the Lighthouse Keeper Lottie for her 5th birthday. I chose it as a significance-filled toy, for Emma as a surviving sibling to Georgie …

Love Me Beauty – The Best Subscription Beauty Box

Love Me Beauty is not the first subscription beauty box I have tried this autumn, but it is by far, the best one on the UK market, in my informed opinion. What makes me view it as such? I have five simple reasons and I am confident you would agree with me, once you have heard me: 1. Price I have tried several other beauty boxes which are decently priced but none of them beats the £10/month that Love Me Beauty sells for! Most of the beauty boxes out there do offer competitive prices but most of them do start at over £12.00. 2. Value for Money Again, I have tried beautiful beauty boxes which offered a varied array of products, from hair, make up, nails, body and accessories but most of their products come in minuscule, sample sizes, with the odd product being full size and worth the spending. I was absolutely impressed with the fact that my review box arrived with ALL five full size products to sample and enjoy! 3. Great Quality …

Canned Food Challenge

I love a challenge, of any sort, so when CannedFoodUK approached and challenged us to cook using canned goods, rather than fresh, I, of course, had to say yes! We do use canned food in this home already, don’t get me wrong but it is only for a few recipes. Our famous spaghetti bolognese is most of the time made with canned tomatoes and we have also been known to resort to a can of rice pudding, when in need for a sweet treat but other than that, we are limited in our consumption of canned goods. I do think that this streams mainly from the recent food scares and theories that fresh is best and we are certainly victims of the latest health trends here. But are those trends always accurate and is canned food to be demonised? I embarked on a virtual search to find out what the real truth(!!) might be and I did discover some stunning facts: Canned fruits, vegetables and beans are considered minimally processed. After being picked at peak …
