Christmas Gift Guide: A Swimmer’s Dream

As promised, my Christmas gift guide this year is going to be highly unconventional, especially when it comes to gifts for children. I support learning through play as an educator and Emma does get toys at Christmas but I do think that our children need to develop other skills in parallel: confidence is definitely one of them! Emma was send this month not one but two brilliant swimming aids: an Aqua Sphere pair of goggles and a SwimFit, the brilliant floating device everyone is talking about! We did put them to test at the pool and we are writing this review to tell you why they would make brilliant Christmas gifts! The Aqua Sphere goggles were brought to my attention in a local children’s magazine. I did approach the PR in charge with the promotion campaign within the UK and they happily agreed to send Emma a Vista Junior Clear Lens pair. What makes Aqua Sphere different from other goggles, you ask? Like all Aqua Sphere’s goggles, the Vista Junior has curved lenses for 180 …

Luxurious Christmas presents with a difference

I told you the other day, this is going to be one interesting month here, on the blog, as I have so many gorgeous products to tell you about! We all have at least one special person in our lives for whom buying the right Christmas present always proves a challenge. Not necessarily because they are fussy with what they like and prefer but because we love them so much, we want to present them with that unique, special gift that conveys our message of love and appreciation to them! So I thought of putting together a few ideas of Christmas presents that would communicate a message of lavish love to those special people in our lives: 1. Handmade, locally produced gorgeousness Etsy is the perfect place to start looking for one of a kind, personalised presents that are guaranteed to enchant. Mel, a lovely friend I met through the wonderful world of blogging, and with whom I forged a strong friendship that comes from love of books and shared experiences and worldviews, has launched …

Clarks Children’s Winter Boots-A Review

Autumn, as sweet and bright as this one has been so far, has taken reign over the land well and truly and we have all started to feel the need for cozy knits and warm boots, especially early in the morning and in the evening, as soon as the sun goes down. If your children, just like my Emma, are in the annoying habit of growing out of their last year’s everythings, then you would soon (if you haven’t already) be looking for sturdy, reliable, reasonably priced and comfortable boots for them to wear. Clarks were kind to approach us and offer Emma the choice of a pair of magnificently looking leather boots from their new autumn-winter collection. We had a good look on the website (Emma has big feet and some of her choices simply weren’t available in her size) and settled on the Epsie Skye boots, which arrived promptly, within a few days of placing the order. I had thought myself clever and did order a 12 1/2 F for her, since at …

Emma’s October Reviews

The weather has been absolutely glorious in Northern Ireland this October, to make up for the horrid summer, they say :-), so I was absolutely thrilled when Emma was offered the opportunity to review this brilliant sandpit from Wickey, a great German company, of which I had not heard before, to my shame! The communication with the brand was swift and extremely professional, from the very beginning, and the wooden sandpit flip, measuring 110x125cm, was send out as soon as we agreed on the review terms and arrived within two days, by courier, all the way from Germany and smelling wonderfully of pine and forest adventures! Alex was a bit reluctant when he realised that it hadn’t come assembled and had to be put together manually but with a bit of encouragement, he proceeded, all to Emma’s delight and excitement! The instructions were clear and simple to follow, the wood cut perfectly and packed helpfully and before we knew it, we had a beautiful sandpit sitting in our back garden and a deliriously excited young …

Back to School Heroes

The schools have been back for almost a month and most our children have already been through their first set of school-related sickness or even worse, visit to the doctor or the pharmacist! I have been sent all month of September things to try out with Emma, that would prevent some of the normal ailments and plagues children get once they return to school and into a germ-exchanging community, so to say :-). Very high on my list is Picksan, NO LICE, a new lice preventative stray. I work in a school environment too so picking lice is a genuine concern at times.  Fortunately , we were sent Picksan which is supposed to be a “natural and effective approach for preventing and treating head lice for your family.”  NO LICE! Preventative Spray and LICE STOP Shampoo Treatment are natural and scientifically proven applications for preventing and treating head lice for the whole family, from children age 3 to adults. In their press release, Picksan says “It’s well known that head lice are becoming increasingly resistant …
