My to-do lists…

I am a doer, so I am. I have always been one, come to think of it, but my lists shaped up and started to feature consistently in my life after a few summers of working in Switzerland in children’s camps. I learned so many things during those summers but most of all, I understood the importance of sanitation, organisation and discipline :-). You see, I am a firm believer in “plan for success.” In my opinion, a mentality of “good things happen to those who believe in good things” characterises people who are too lazy to plan and work. As a family, we live our lives according to the slogan “good things happen to those who plan ahead!” As I wrote in a previous post last week, when it comes to juggling modern parenting tasks, good organisational skills are essential for the smooth running of a household. I try at the moment to balance many “plates” and as any juggler worth his/her salt, I need to know my tricks really well in order to …

OralB Love Your Gums Challenge

The lovely people at Oral-B, together with the wonderful team at BritMums, teamed up this month to ensure that British mums are looking after their own oral health. I received a tube of the new Oral-B Pro-Expert Premium Gum Protection toothpaste to try out. Who would have thought that a simple tube of toothpaste would act as such a catalyst for change in our family? As you know from my previous posts, I am pregnant and yes, indeed, my gums have been bleeding like crazy since May. I sort of brushed it under the carpet as this is not the first time I get bleeding gums and used traditional methods to try and stop the bleeding. One of the methods is what my mum would have advised, which is brushing my teeth with a mixture of fine salt and baking soda. It didn’t really do the trick and besides, left my gums feel a bit tender due to the harshness of the salt grain. So I started using the Oral-B toothpaste I got and things …

Some Lost Boys and A Man With A Golden Heart

I have recently signed up for Bloggers Required, a network for brand blogging assignments. I never imagined that my first assignment would be not a job that remunerates in pound sterling but in  sterling hearts, if I can say so… The Lost Boys is a project initiated three years ago by  Joost Vandebrug, a nosy London  photographer and filmmaker, who started out as many others do when it comes to  Romanian social projects. Curiosity, a sense of civil duty or perhaps a dare-devil attitude. But what was born out of an impulse at the time ended up catching his heart forever (Romania and Romanians have this “talent”) and three years on he is trying to raise awareness about a small group of boys he has come to love, help financially and allowed to shape his existence forever. Joost is at the moment trying to raise funds and awareness about these five boys. With the help of the DUST magazine, “a biannual photography magazine about youth related existential themes” and through their Kickstarter project, Joost is hoping …

Barny Little Adventure Challenge Review

We have been privileged and were given the chance to review the new Barny bear-shaped sponge snacks last week. Not only that but because we were among the first 50 mummy bloggers to sign up for the Adventure Challenge(I guess all that early morning email checking pays off!), Emma received a Discovery Explore Bug Barn that took us on wonderful adventures this weekend! Many thanks, BritMums and Barny! With a small girl who has a VERY sweet tooth I am always on the lookout for snacks that are filling, nutritious but not necessarily unhealthy. I dose the treats carefully throughout the day, encouraging her to eat loads of fruit alongside/instead of sweet snacks and chocolate. The Barny snack meets my mummy criteria for a treat as it has 118 calories per serving and is enough to meet Emma’s daily sugar cravings(meaning she gets one of these little yummies a day and no more :-). The Barny snack definitely meets my little one’s criteria and she has already a preference for the “one with the chocolate …
