Word of the week: PATIENCE
As you might have read in one of my previous posts this week, I have decided to focus on a couple of words this year and seek a genuine transformation with God’s help and daily assistance.
As goals the two words are magnificent but I do believe that breaking it into weekly tasks would make even a greater impact as each week brings its own particular challenge and would need specific focus.
So for me, this week’s word has been PATIENCE, related in particular to this pregnancy. I am ready to have this baby, oh, soooo ready, and I found myself stressing over what would be a perfect day for him to come, praying (read attempting to manipulate through prayer) that he will come out on the days Alex is not working too far or too late…etc. It sort of started to rob me of my peace of mind and joy over this delivery so this morning I decided to just…let it go. Into wiser and safer hands. God’s.
I also need bags of PATIENCE with Emma as I went back to not sleeping properly once I came off the antihistamines ( I am not supposed to have them too close to my due date) and I get these massive energy crashes in the afternoon, while Emma wants my attention. Not easy…

Heroes of the City Giveaway
Well, I hope you have enjoyed your winter holidays so far, that you have received (and given) what you were meant to and that the first hours of 2014 found you rejuvenated, relaxed and ready for a brand new and exciting year ahead!
New year, new exciting things for our blog, definitely! The second day of the year and we are honoured to host our first giveaway ever! A couple of weeks ago we were offered the opportunity to review Heroes of the City Movie App and we were sent a lovely toy car and book package with the heroes featured in the games to give away to a lucky boy(or girl, why not?)
I was curious on how Emma would take to the app, given the fact that she has been downloading only girly games so far onto our mini iPad and this app seemed geared mostly for boys, with fire engines, police cars, boats and airplanes featured as main protagonists. The game is bang on designed for children her age and I am happy to say that during the holidays and all our car trips Heroes of the City app has been among her favourites and the games kept her entertained for hours on end. There are also 26 short movies she is yet to discover so hey, a pretty good app to have on your tablet if you have small ones in your family!

And since I hate rafflecopters and consider the method an artificial and unreliable way of raising one’s likes and follow numbers on Facebook and Twitter, I will make this giveaway pretty straight forward. The words for 2014
The other day I read a very inspirational blog post in light of New Year’s resolutions and decisions. Instead of making a list of resolutions she was bound to break, as far as the experts tell us, the author of the post had decided to choose a word around which she was going to structure her life in 2014. Her choice was “nurture” and referred to relationships, personal health, career and marriage.
The post gave me food for thought and prayers to pray. As anyone over a certain age, I have been pondering in the last week or so on what went right and what could have been better this year. I do not mean in my circumstances but in my attitude, ways of thinking and consequently, actions. It tied in nicely with our young pastor’s preaching last Sunday challenging us to change our thoughts as the simple action of keeping them under control will change our lives.
So, the words I have chosen for this coming year are RENEW and RESET.
RENEW as in Romans 12:2 “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”(New Living Tradition). How many times have I made decisions based on what I knew about the situation, what was considered as “common knowledge” or common sense? How many times have I not considered God’s perspective on things just because I thought I knew the “truth”? I intend this to change this year by taking more time to consider God’s view on things over my own.
I chose RESET this morning, watching our Christmas tree lights and enjoying the soft twinkling I had set as a mode over the hard-on-the-eye, jumpy mode that comes as their factory setting. It goes hand in hand with RENEW but speaks more of my attitude to things and happenings in the New Year. If this year my attitude has been one of using my words too quickly(traffic lights come to mind:-), if it has grated the eyes and the minds of my dearest ones, then this year I wish with all my heart to set the reset button and become a soft twinkling light that pleases,soothes and gives comfort.
