Visiting Istanbul…by mistake!

As you know from my last post, we have been travelling within Greece in the last weeks and were meant to be back to Thessaloniki, where we have our summer base, yesterday. But as life has it, I am writing this post from a sunny hotel lounge in…Istanbul! Let me tell you how we got here. Yesterday, on our way back to the airport, we had a very near car crash. A crash which would most likely have been fatal for all of us, had it had happened. We then proceeded to return our rental car to Goldcar Rental in Koropi. We had experienced issues with them when we had picked up the car and we allowed half an hour to return the car this time. Foolish miscalculation! Their ATM wasn’t working and after FOUR(!!!) unsuccessful attempts to return our deposit, we knew we were very close to missing our flight back to Thessaloniki. Which we did… We sat there, shell-shocked after the near-crash,  furious following the car rental mishaps (which, from the sound of …

Rejuvenation, reconnection and reflection time

There are three reasons I always look forward to our “time away” as a couple. The first is rejuvenation. We get time to sleep and awake according to our natural body clocks, time to enjoy a few meals uninterrupted and time to sunbathe without worrying about armbands, sunscreen and routines. We also get to reconnect with each other. We don’t get a lot of quality couple time at home because there is always work, computers and tantrums to get in the way. This is for me precious time when I allow myself to switch off completely from worries, cares and miscellaneous. This is the time God uses to speak to me about the future, giving comfort, guidance and encouragement. During our last couple retreat my blog …

Sunshine, sunshine baby…

Okay, back home for a little while. We enjoyed our time away, seeing family we haven’t seen in absolute ages(meeting hubby’s second cousin’s new additions), eating fresh food, going out to the most exquisite restaurants in Thessaloniki(the best place to eat in Greece!) , choosing a house to live for the next year, reconnecting with dear friends I haven’t seen in five years or so…I am taking part in the Gallery this week and the theme is, so appropriately, sunshine. Here is a photo of a wee gem of a place, a small village called Galaxidi, not far from Patra. We had lunch and ice cream there on our way to Thessaloniki. Have a lovely weekend and bank holiday, enjoy the sunshine and the celebrations!
