Angel’s Face: A Review

I have become very selective with my reviews in the past few months for a number of reasons. One, and the most important, has been the lack of time due to a (nearly, towards the end of June) full-time job in education. The other has been the subsequent desire to act professionally, not letting brands and PRs down with delayed or very late posts. I therefore decided to accept for reviewing only products I absolutely loved and could dedicate an hour to writing a beautiful, heartfelt blog post on. And Angel’s Face has been absolutely one of those and more! I loved their name from the very beginning and saw it as perfectly befitting for Emma. At the end of the day, she has a little angel of a brother in heaven and wearing something that would remind us of Georgie is always a privilege and encouraged in our home! Emma was sent an absolutely gorgeous Neon Pink Tutu Skirt and a sweet, sweet t-shirt. We loved the beautiful hat box packaging the tutu arrived …

What made our Christmas beautiful: Febreze Winter Scents

I need to give credit where credit is due and mention the people who made our Christmas beautiful, despite the painful circumstances and the unbearable built up to it. We enjoyed immensely having people over on Christmas day. People like us, with no family living here and nowhere to go to on Christmas day. People who would have been lonely otherwise. We were told we were being kind but in all honesty, it was as helpful for us as it was for our honoured guests. It filled a dreaded day with companionship, laughter and chat. And good food, loads of it, was consumed :-). I love cooking for a crowd and I was so pleased they all enjoyed their meal. What also made our Christmas period enjoyable was surrounding ourselves with nice things, beautiful decorations, soothing music and having the house smelling lovely. It was a treat for the senses and everyone who came to visit us over the holiday period mentioned the beautiful smells in the house. I have that to thank Febreze for, …

Littlest Pet Shop Review

The latest in the review series on the blog has been generously provided by Hasbro via Tots100 and it is a whole set of the Littlest Pet Shop small toys: Blythe’s Bedroom (RRP £29.99), The Spa (RRP £14.99)and The Treat set (RRP £14.99). The playset is inspired by the TV series with the same name, which is running on POP, the children’s TV channel. Blythe, the teenage protagonist of the series,  lives a great new life adventure when she moves into an flat above Littlest Pet Shop where she learns she can talk with the pets who hang out in the shop. Emma is only 5 and the recommended age group for the Littlest Pet Shop sets is +6 but she took to them immediately. She, indeed, needed a bit of help assembling the structures (which, as you can see in the picture, come as flat packs) but had no issue letting her imagination run wild with them, as you can see in the picture below. We found the small bits a bit fiddly and …

What to expect when you’re expecting

I can’t remember last time I saw a movie in a cinema. Oh wait, something vague is coming to mind…it’s been a few months at least. Anyway, last night I just decided to go solo, left toddler with hubby for the last half an hour of her awake time and fled the house. Quite literally. Gooodness knows when I’ll be able to do this next, with us travelling to a different country and all… I didn’t have much time to check reviews on what’s good of all the movies that are out at the moment. What to expect had a cute trailer. Although seeing it I didn’t expect much ,to be honest, as I know trailers generally contain the best bits in the movie and I wasn’t particularly impressed by it. Okay, it had a large number of cliches ( all American movies do, I’m afraid): the rich and famous father who married a slut much younger woman and the scarred for life by his father’s behaviour son; the clueless father-gang thing protecting each other’s …

Movie Review: Rabbit Hole

It’s established: Saturday nights are movie nights in our house! Last Saturday this movie jumped at us in the video shop. We were in a rush, toddler was amassing  chocolate star bags and Peppa Pig DVDs off the shelves at an alarming rate so we didn’t even have time to read the clippings on the back. It was enough to see Nicole Kidman was in it, we knew we couldn’t go terribly wrong. We did expect complexity of plot(which we got) but we didn’t expect a message of hope out of such a sad case. Storyline? A young couple who have it all going for themselves (big house in an affluent suburb, important jobs, the kid and the dog!), face indescribable loss when their six-year-old boy is hit and killed by a car in front of the house. The movie observes the aftermath of the tragedy and the very different  coping mechanisms the parents resort to. It’s almost a clinic observation of  techniques on “How to deal with the death of a loved one.” The only thing …
